Procedure Steps

Follow each step in order. If something does not apply to the current situation, note it and move to the next step. If you find a better way, bring it to your group leader so we can improve the procedure for everyone.

1

Post the emergency response plan at every jobsite entrance and in the break area. Everyone must know where to find it.

2

Ensure all crew members know the location of fire extinguishers, first aid kits, and AED devices on their jobsite.

3

Designate an assembly point for each jobsite. It must be a safe distance from the work area and clearly marked.

4

Assign emergency roles: who calls 911, who performs first aid, who accounts for all personnel, who directs emergency vehicles.

5

Conduct emergency drills quarterly. Practice makes the response automatic when it matters most.

6

Keep an updated roster of all personnel on site each day. In an emergency, you must be able to account for every person.

7

Review and update the emergency plan whenever site conditions change significantly: new structures, new hazards, new access routes.

8

After any emergency or drill, conduct a debrief. What worked? What did not? Update the plan accordingly.
