Training and Certification Tracking
Investing in our people is investing in the mission. This procedure ensures every team member has the training they need and the growth opportunities they deserve.
Procedure Steps
Follow each step in order. If something does not apply to the current situation, note it and move to the next step. If you find a better way, bring it to your group leader so we can improve the procedure for everyone.
Maintain a training matrix for every team member. Track current certifications, expiration dates, and required training.
Identify training needs during performance reviews and project debriefs. What skills would make this person more effective?
Schedule required certification renewals at least 60 days before expiration. Do not let certifications lapse.
Provide at least 4 hours of training per employee per month. This can include formal classes, mentoring, or on-the-job skill building.
Document all training completed: date, topic, instructor, and hours. This protects the company and validates the investment.
Create individual development plans for team members who show leadership potential. Give them a clear path forward.
Review the training budget quarterly. Ensure funds are being used effectively and that no one is being overlooked.
Celebrate certifications and skill achievements publicly. Growth should be recognized and encouraged.
